Rohan's Snake Vs Iguana

Iguana vs Snakes
As I stayed on smooth sand, I was hoping that the snakes didn’t strike at me. One of the snakes was getting closer.
I felt scared to death. Bang! The snake attacked me. I ran as fast as my legs would take me, hovering over the snakes.
One snapped me with its  sharp fangs, but that did not stop me. As I got away, one was right behind me. I got on my concrete ledge rock and I was safe.

Ethan's Post on Wednesday, 12 October 2016

I am afraid that he will find me. Running, I can hear him in the bushes scrambling furiously.

This is the "hook" for my next story.

Tane's Surfing Story

Tane's Surfing Story

                     Surfing in Hawaii

“Tane Tane,” whispered Dad, ”Wake up."
I got up and got dressed. Soon Dad and I walked down to the beach. We peered through the mountain of surfboards and there it was. Soon Dad found his surfboard. I saw a big set coming.

After we saw the big set we paddled out. Suddenly a wave crashed hard on my head. It felt sore.

Unexpectedly I saw a wave. As I paddled, I noticed that someone had all ready caught the wave. But I kept on going with my eyes closed. Finally I felt the wave forcing me forward. I stood up in a hurry, and I was riding it for real.

RJ's Lighthouse Writing

The lighthouse was looming in the distance and the boat was tossing and turning. The waves were crashing into the lighthouse. It was getting thrown back and forwards. It was stormy. It was wild and rough. There were some shipwrecks along the coast. Seagulls screeched above them. Stones were hitting the windows. The water was dark. I saw kahawai  swimming beneath the surface. I felt cold and scared.

Writing from a different perspective

Writing from a different perspective.

We studied a model text titled "The Lost Property Box".

We discussed how the text was written from the perspective of a shirt.
We then had a try at writing our own paragraphs from the perspective of different objects.

We hope you enjoy our different views about our lives.

The Rubbish Bin

“Please help me, oh help me, I am down at the bottom of the poor rubbish bin.’’ I feel so sorry for all the other foods.

I just wish someone would put me back in the right bin, I mean, literally, come on.

I’m so bored just shoved in the corner along with chippy packets, yoghurt containers, and even things that look quite like..well me.Just blank white paper.

Be careful - if you put your rubbish in the rubbish bin, you never know... you might just fall in and you will end up like me.

Tote trays...
On the table tote trays sits rubbers and  pencils and more things sleeping in me and I’m feeling sleepy.

Put me in something to let me rest.

“ I have been there for like 1000 years and I’m with other tote trays.”

Please put some things in side of me and I will keep them safe for you.

Don't grab me don't grab me.
I'm in the P,E shed. I feel lost in here.
I wish someone would give me a friend, that would be better. Someone could bring     me to someone else.
I've been here for two weeks now. There are only popped and stinky other balls    around me.

If you come searching, be careful you don't get locked in.

Pod 7's "Playing Hard"  Writing

Earlier this term we were lucky to have the coaches from Northland Rugby come to school to give us some coaching on Rippa Rugby.

Following this, some students were able to attend a Rippa Rugby tournament day at Kensington Park, where they had a great time.

Following this we studied a model text, excerpts from "Beans" by Patricia Grace.
We wrote our own paragraphs with the following criteria:
I have:

  • written a paragraph about playing hard
  • not used the actual words "playing hard"
  • included actions that show I was really "going for it"
  • included a listing sentence
  • included how I feel about the experience (reflections)
We hope you enjoy our paragraphs

I couIdn’t wait to get on the turf. It was cold and foggy. It was time to go one the turf .
We were playing against Kamo primary. They were pretty challenging.

When we got on the turf, I was wing, the same as Hannah .  I ran up and passed the ball. But Sam got the ball. The other team  took  the ball and ran with it. But I ran behind them. Hannah got the ball and smashed it in the goal. I passed to Sam and  she scored  a goal.
I got subbed. I  hate being  sub. It takes all the fun away. I  couIdn’t wait to go back on the turf. I was goalie. I love being goalie. I’m the one who gets the  best runs. Sometimes I’m good at defence. I LOVE HOCKEY .

We played hard
As I was runing down the sideline, bang! I got a try.
Everyone was jumping on me.I  ran back. I ripped the tag off DJ. just before he got the try.
Shana ran down the field. She side stepped the boy who wanted to rip the tag. Cohen gave the ball to Shana.
She got two tries.
The game was over.
’’We won!’‘said Luke. “We! won! we! won!” We ran off the field like crazy.
We had won all of our games. Now we have to play Hika in half an hour.

                       Playing hard

Here we go...the whistle blows. It feels good when that ball comes to me. I rip, step, run, pass, dummy, everything. I love it when I touch that  ball down on the grass. Look! I see a gap. I pass back and I call loudly.
I go for it, even when I get muddy because that makes me stronger. I chase the ball like cat and mouse. What I think I do.

By Tāne

I was at soccer in the wind and dodged the other players.
I fell over a few times but I got back up into the game and didn’t cry.
We lost but I was still happy because I got player of the day. And in the end, I was really working hard.

By Ella

I jump and dodge the ball. Two people left. Everyone goes for me. I run and jump but I get hit. I grab the ball. I sprint and throw. I just tagged them on the leg with the ball.
We restart.
I go in and my legs are kicking deadly. Two people out and two left, including me.
Someone hits me too, but someone else chases my other teammate and they get hit just before me.
I win, “Yay!”

by Dallas

I know that if I don't get included I'm not going to have a fun time.

I rip, step, squash the worms, sprint, and score a try. I get stuck into it all the time. I keep on going! No matter what -nothing will stop me from getting to the try line. My tag always gets ripped!

I've had a fun time.

Playing Hard
While I was getting my tags on, I got nervous. My buddy said, “I can’t wait for your turn.” Just then I heard a voice saying my name so I went on.
I ripped, ran, tripped and had fun. The next game was at 11.30a.m. I got excited. Then the game began. This time I wasn’t a sub. I like it when I’m not a sub.

The last game was at 1.30.pm. When the game was going I got a bad stitch. But I tried, and I got through it.

By Isabella

I kicked the ball.
I ran as fast as I could. I was holding the ball but
someone ripped off my tag. I ran and ripped their tag
off. I ran to get the ball off the people on my team.
I got all muddy.
I cleaned myself before I went on the bus.
We went back to school.

DJ's Robot Story

The big robot is standing in front of me.
He has lightning shooting out of his stomach.
I feel scared because I think it is going to step on me.
It looks like he is going to shoot me with his laser.
I had to run away.  I hid in the bushes.
When  I looked around, the robot was coming after me.
But he lost me so he ran back to where he was standing
and waited for another person to come.
